January Membership News

Dear MCCGA Members:

A quick update as we begin the season. If you have not already found the schedules for January 26th, they are online along with contest information. Schedules should be posted two weeks prior to shows.

UNIT FACT SHEET: At this time, we ask that everyone visit the MCCGA website and complete the Unit Fact Sheet Electronically. This is new this year. Once you complete the form, it will be turned in for you at each show. If you have corrections as the season continues, please contact the webmaster at webmaster@mccga.org .

DEADLINES: Please remember the following deadline dates to add or drop from a festival. Remember that any unit canceling less than FOUR (4) weeks prior to a festival will be assessed a $100 fee that is required to be paid before performing in any other MCCGA festival. Schedule changes should be sent to festivalchanges@mccga.org

CRITIQUE: Critique sign-up will be at the check-in tables at each festival. Please remember that critique is a time for you to have productive discussion related to your program. It is not a requirement to attend critique, but is there if you so choose. With that, we ask that all discussions in critique are kept productive and respectful for the growth of your groups. If there are instances of inappropriate behavior in critique, instructors/directors may be asked to leave. As we are all adults and in this for the education of our students, we assume this will not be an issue, but I needed to put that out there.

WGI Guard Regional: The WGI Guard Regional Deadline is January 28th. Please visit www.wgi.org  if you still need to register. There are currently 34 units signed up with many coming from Minnesota and Oklahoma. It should be a great day!

FLOOR LAYOUT: Please remember to check out the floor layout (vertical/horizontal) prior to any festival. That information will be posted online with the schedule information and will be sent out in the festival packets by the show hosts. It is important that all directors are familiar with the entrances and exits and relay that information to your students prior to performing.

Good luck this season and we all look forward to seeing you on the floor!

Ann Duncan
MCCGA President
